Her career in journalism began with Myrtle Beach South Carolina as an anchor and news reporter with WPDE-TV. She worked later as morning news anchor for WCBD TV and acted as a crime reporter. While in Charleston O'Dell's reporting about the relaxed approach police take to DUI cases resulted in a State Law Enforcement Division investigation that led to State authorities issuing the strictest guidelines regarding DUI instances. The Associated Press honored Ms. O'Dell by awarding her the Best Report of the Years Award in all South Carolina Media. Following her stint living in Charleston, O'Dell worked as anchor for the NBC's Miami Station WTVJ-TV as well as an investigative reporter. She then joined Access Hollywood to work as the weekend and weekday correspondent. In addition to her current role as anchor for Access Hollywood Ms. O'Dell is also a contributor to NBC News' Today and also for Dateline NBC. The anchor has hosted a number of pre-shows and arrivals shows for The Emmys as well as The Golden Globe Awards. Co-hosted also for the Miss USA pageant and the Miss Universe pageant.
